You would think the Post Office would have a hissy fit about that, but I still get mail delivered with the same house number from a different street name.
I’m at 1001 Monkey lane
I get 1001 Horshoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend is a short cul-de-sac about 100 yards from my house. The same carrier delivers both.
This, even after they put a barcode on my mailbox.
Something like that - or the new properties may not be numbered at all (they might be named "Rose Villa’ and “Petunia Cottage”), or if just the land is divided and a new property built on the now-empty half, the new property may be <n>A (so you’d have 22 Something Street and 22A Something Street).
None of this is enforced, as far as I know. Street numbering is less important than it used to be anyway - properties are points on a map, in a database now.
Yep. Two different municipalities. Two different zip codes.
The post office is pretty good about the situation. The mail rarely gets mixed up. However, everyone else gets confused.
When I hear a rapid doorbell ring, I run to the front door. I know it’s UPS or FedEx doing a drive-by delivery. About 90% of the time, I can catch them before they get back into their van and drive off. No real issue. We know the other people who live in the same number house, and it’s only a few houses down, so I’ll deliver it if I can’t catch the driver. But, it’s still a pain.
The biggest problem in our area are emergency vehicles that can’t find the correct address. I’ll see an ambulance or police car go up and down the street a couple of times with the sirens blazing looking for the right address.
