I’ve done the math. It’s cheaper to buy the DVD box sets for the occasional HBO series I want to watch than it is to get the HBO service. HBO on my system is $14.99 a month which means with three months of service (the running time for a series) I’ve gotten the DVD’s. Add on some carry on for the months where I have the service and there is no new show I want to watch (I’m not interested in their other offerings at all) and I’ll just get the occasional Rome or Deadwood box sets.
Yeah, but then you have to WAIT.
Sometimes you can get a special where HBO is $7-$10 a month, they often run those deals when a new show starts.
I’m psyched for the new series. The cast looks promising; it could be totally awesome. And if it gets GRRM off his ass to finish the series, so much the better! Sheesh.
