# HDTV outside US?

Is HDTV just a US standard, for all the NTSC countries, or world wide? Is it supported in countries which use PAL? If so, in what formats?

Not sure about the technical issues re. HDTV and PAL, but here in the UK people are starting to buy HD-ready television in anticipation of the service.

It’s not available yet, but I guess it might come around when we switch from analogue to digital in a couple of years time.
