I don’t think it’s that he never ran across the word before; it’s that he is in an excited frame of mind, and expecting something exotic, and just misinterprets the word. Have you never had the experience where a perfectly familiar word somehow looks strange? ETA: That’s what happens when you have to take a phone call before you’ve finished composing a post. :mad: ---
