Just heard on NPR that Tab Hunter is no longer with us. He was 86. I think they said he died yesterday. ---

Hugh Downs is 97. He got a degree in gerontology back when he was hosting Over Easy, a show about aging - that was '77-'83. ---

I keep thinking that Wayne Newton is dead, and I’m always depressed when I realize that it’s Robert Goulet who has died. In one of my favorite random encounters ever, I passed Goulet on a street in Louisville, Kentucky one December. I went back to verify it was him (even asking him to be sure), and we chatted for about 10-15 minutes. He was in town doing a touring production of something scheduling conflicts denied me the opportunity to see. No disrespect intended towards Wayne Newton, of course. But I met Goulet, so it always bums me out when I remember he’s passed on. ---
