It was spelled “Malik Taus” when Robert E. Howard (and other pulp writers in that Kalem circle) used it back in the 30’s. That’s probably where Alan Moore got it from, even if he mangled the spelling. ---

Having spent a good portion of my childhood getting chased by evil, evil peacocks trying to peck me while visiting my grandparents’, I for one believe the guy. I wouldn’t be at all surprised that the peacock was a vampire. They’re evil, evil creatures. (“poor, defenseless” my ass. those birds are _mean_) … although I’d imagine one would look mighty odd with fangs. ---
