Here is mine.
So what accent do I have?
I’ll never guess right. Belgium? :o
Hm. Missouri?
I admit it; I am crazily obsessed with accents. An Gadai’s recording of the Gettysburg Address amuses me to no end. I love how he says, “Faddahs” and “togeddah.”
Trying this again. Hopefully it’ll open.
I’ve been in Tennessee for the last 25 years. Before that, I lived in Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio.

There are a couple of these that make me want to retire to my bunk!
I don’t have a microphone so I can’t record myself but that is probably for the best as I sound like an 8 year old girl. I wish I had some kind of sultry, sexy voice but I am doomed to forever sound like a whimsical young girl.
A larger passage would probably be helpful. Gettysburg address?
I could actually recognize this one right away (well, approximately), but I’ve also seen previous posts of yours, so my guess is tainted.
Oh I am so going to try this with my cellphone or find a friend with a mic on her computer.
I think I sound like Joy off My Name Is Earl. Oh yeah - dead sexy.
My Gettysburg address. I, um, have a feeling I don’t sound like Lincoln.
I’m guessing you are either from India or Pakistan (possibly the Middle East), but came to the US during your childhood.
… and here’s the start of the Gettysburg address, exactly as it may have sounded if Abraham Lincoln was Australian, and also a woman.
I DID IT! (I hope).
I’ll listen to the new ones in a bit:
He thinks all short men sit on their laurels all day
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
I was born in India and lived there four years, then spent many of my formative years in MI, then my adult life in upstate NY. I have no idea *what *I sound like at this point.
You seriously need to get in the bookreading business. That, or a tour guide.
“On your left, you’ll see the Tower of…”
Next time we do one of these threads, let’s merge it with this one.
Ha!
On the bookreading front, help me out over here.
Or we can come up with more stuff to say. This was really fun.
Here’s my contribution from Central Indiana.
This is really a cool thread, I love the idea.
An Gadaí - Your Gettysburg Address sounds a lot like something from “The Gangs Of New York”
Mangetout - Your recording sounds different from when I’ve heard your voice on your website, almost like a narrative from a children’s story.
jsgoddess - Are you trying to lull me to sleep? After hearing your Gettysburg Address I would say yes. You have the most soothing voice so far.
ShakWave - An uneducated guess puts you on the Isle of Emerald
Kal - Oddly enough I would have guessed East Central UK because you sound a bit like that Lennon fellow a few years back.
Awesome accents everyone, quite impressive.
And now that I’ve signed up for this Box thing I can share more of my Didgeridoo creations, I gotta start working on one now.
Here’s mine http://www.box.net/shared/no1vm1uq9g. I grew up in a number of countries including the US, UK, Germany and New Zealand, but have been in Australia the past 2 years - I think it’s pretty much gone Aussie, perhaps only my intonation is still slightly English?
