Subtitled: Wake up, Dream Time’s over, so fire up the iPod, get your CD’s off the shelf or start up your computer’s jukebox program and let’s get to voting. **First: The Who’s, What’s, Where’s & Why’s of the Headliner Poll** In an attempt to squeeze as many bands in the shortest amount of time possible, The Tuesday 6 @ 6 Polls include a Headliner poll. This **Cult** poll, like the featured [**Cure** thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=276966) will be closed and tallied 7 days from today, Tuesday September 28, 2004 at or about 6PM EDT. Results from all the polls will be posted a few minutes later on that same day in _Week #42_’s featured _Ray Charles 6 @ 6 Poll_. _Why you ask?_ After the ZZ Top poll, sometime this decade, the plan is to compile all the votes from the SDMB & post them in a few threads. Then I’ll burn a several volume CD set & mail ‘em out to the voters who helped keep these threads going. **Second: Links to the 71 artists we’ve already closed polling on** They’re all closed and tallied, so don’t piss anyone off & post to them. If you like to read any of them, here you go…The pile just keeps on growing: [§ Crosby Stills Nash / CSNY](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=276024) [§ Neil Young (& Crazy Contemplating what your 6 favorite Cult–_but_ it only takes a minute to post your selections here. Compare your favorite tracks with other dopers who voted and see all the tracks and how many votes each song got next week after this poll closes. **Third: The Poll & How it Works** It’s simple enough, post your **6** favorite songs by the artist. Personal observations, opinions, liner notes, comments and the like are always welcome but are in no means required. You **May** include Cover Versions. If you specify a Live version, it will be noted, but tallied together with the studio version of the same title. My only request of you is to please _try_ to be as accurate as possible when naming your favorite tracks. In this Cult Poll, please feel free include selections by their goth predecessors: The Southern Death Cult. **Lastly: The Week #41 Headliner Poll Artist of the Week** As I’m quite certain you can see, I’ve blabbered on for far too long already. So, without further ado… **The Cult**. ---

Here are my 6 favorite tracks by The Cult / Southern Death Cult[ul] [li]6) Fatman (Southern Death Cult) - 1983 [/li][li]5) Rain - 1985[/li][li]4) Love - 1985[/li][li]3) Electric Ocean - 1987[/li][li]2) She Sells Sanctuary - 1985[/li][li]1) Love Removal Machine - 1987 [/li][/ul] So, do you have 6 faves? Is it possible Ian Astbury & The boys can knock Elvis Costello’s “Watching the Detectives” off the top vote getter position? Probably not – but one never knows. Those answers and much more next week, same Eastern Standard Time, same web address. **Thanking you all in advance** I might see some of you over at the \*\*[Cure\*\*](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=276966), **Chemical Brothers** or **Church** polls. Have a great week! ---

[ul] [li]1) **Wildflower** - Electric[/li][li]2) **Little Face** - (1986) This is a track from the scrapped Peace album. Some tracks from the “lost” Peace album were reworked under Rick Rubin’s production and ended up on the Electric album.[/li][li]3) **Electric Ocean** - Electric[/li][li]4) **Edie (Ciao Baby/acoustic version)**- Sonic Temple - I prefer the later acoustic version to the heavily produced original.[/li][li]5) **Shape the Sky** - A great rocker from their latest 2001 album _Beyond Good and Evil_[/li][li]6) **Black Angel** - Love[/li][/ul] ---
