Healthy eating tips, anyone?

Since I’m no nutritionist, I’ll just pass this bit on. Read Bill Philips’
book Body-for-Life. Follow the diet, and try to follow the exercise part. I did both really well for the first four weeks and lost ten pounds. I’m way more lenient on the diet now (week 7), but I’m an athlete, or at least an attempt at one, so I can burn crap off a lot faster than most. Time becomes an issue with the program, but it does take care of problems two and three for you, as well as problem 1(b) after your body gets used to all of the food you have to take in.

Success examples:

Me - Ten pounds lost in 4 weeks. Gained back 3, but it’s muscle now. Down from 17% body fat to 14% body fat.

Teammate #1 - Lost 7 pounds in 6 weeks, would be higher but he still drinks regularly.

Teammate #2 - Lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. Combined the diet with a vegan diet two days a week. Down to around 7% body fat.

Thank you all for your tips thus far. Very much appreciated. Related to your tip, Ruby, I don’t eat large portions generally (my husband is a different story :)). I really can’t eat very much at one time; I hardly ever “clean my plate.” What I do is graze. So … another thing I’ve been trying to do is eat only at the table. I think I’ll make that a hard-and-fast rule for myself.

Burundi, your suggestion doesn’t sound wierd at all. I’m a total sugar fiend. I love to bake, but I just don’t have time to do it all the time, so if I limit my desserts to homemade ones only, that should help quite a bit with my sugar intake.

Thanks again, guys, for all the tips so far. Keep 'em coming!
