I’ve been reading Reversing HEart Disease by Dr Julian Whitaker [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Reversing-Heart-Disease-Julian-Whitaker/dp/0446676578/ref=sr\_1\_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222107573&sr=8-1](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Reversing-Heart-Disease-Julian-Whitaker/dp/0446676578/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222107573&sr=8-1).

He recommends taking 120mg of Coenzyme Q10 to increase energy and aid in heart muscle strength as this is leached from the body by statins and beta blockers.

I have trawled the net and read a number of papers on the subject and can find no reason why I should not take this as the only drug it has contraindications with is Warfarin.

Can anyone here suggest if there is a reason I should not take this?

It appears from this that the jury is still out… [http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/55867.php](http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/55867.php)

“But according to the November issue of Mayo Clinic Health Letter, scientific evidence doesn’t support most of the health claims. So far, it’s not known if low coenzyme Q10 levels cause disease or if taking supplements can prevent or treat disease. Of the many coenzyme Q10 studies, most have been small. Many have not been “controlled,” where some participants take a placebo.”

The only reason I will suggest you don’t is anecdotal evidence that it wasn’t helpful.

I tried it and did not see any results. And it is not what I would call inexpensive.

However, that is only one man’s experience.

Thanks to you both for your replies.

I will give it a short trial to see if I notice any effects, as you say **Khadaji** it isn’t cheap, but if it means I can reduce some other medication (with the approval of my Doctor) or reduce some of the side effects of medication then it can only be a good thing.

I will report back to let you know how I get on.
