If Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquility and Opeth is turnin’ yer’ crank, mayhaps Dissection would be to your liking? Black Metal to be sure, but with that same unique sense of melody and songcraft that only Swedish metal bands seem to possess. Great guitar solo’s as well!!!
And I’ll repeat what’s been said up thread about Katatonia. Anything and everything by them is essential IMO. Show me a bad Katatonia album and I’ll show you someone who’s lying to me about there being a bad Katatonia album.
