You might ask the Russians whether they preferred living in the Soviet Union under Brezhnev or under Yeltsin’s liberal democracy. Of course, I don’t actually mean ask individual people, as you seem to think personal anecdotes equal data. I mean, go look at some statistics. If you think that wouldn’t hurt your tender little feelings. There might be a bit of survivor bias in that poll. ---
