In summary, CosmicManiac is certainly dumb, but may also be using outdated cultural touchstones because, not to put too fine a point on it, he has no friends among his peer group. My dinner buddy and I gradually got past that, but CM perhaps has not and perhaps can not. ---

The house we rented in Cleveland had the first ten or so MAD paperback anthologies, so I was exposed to such delights as Super-Duperman at the correct age, ten. It was awesome and something otherwise unavailable to me unless I had been born ten years earlier. Or willing to spend thirty-five cents (cheap!) for each. Landlady also had a bunch of Readers Digests from the '40s, so I learned about Canada: Sleeping Giant at Our Doorstep (You wonder why I don’t trust you and your ilk? Blame DeWitt Wallace.) and far more than I wanted to know about Joe’s pancreas. Driving into Cleveland I had a Cracked. Leaving I had a MAD. Entering I had no horror show presenter because Richmond TV didn’t bother with one. In Cleveland there was Ghoulardi, but parents wouldn’t let me stay up that late. Local DJ moved to Chi w/permission to copy his schtick (Ghoulardi went on to be the Voice Of Primetime ABC, so he was cool.) Jerry G Bishop handed the Svenghouli reins to Sven Jr. I regret that last Saturday’s broadcast of Dracula was adulterated with INCIDENTAL MUSIC, FFS, but at my age I’m just happy to have some continuity in my life. ---

When you’ve convinced yourself that you’re some downtrodden minority, you can see sexism in anything. But you aren’t. We’ve got a lot of men here, and most of us know it isn’t sexist. Most of us have said this sort of thing to each other before. You’ve also hitched yourself to the troll wagon with your previous antics, so no one is going to have any sympathy for you. Going all “SJW” but in reverse isn’t going to make people listen to you. And while we give trolls a long rope, it’s only to tighten the noose.
