True, but I think under traditional dueling protocol, the challengee gets choice of weapons. If Mr. E was smart, he’d pick something like milkshakes at 10 paces. Two fine dairy products would then be sacrificed upon the Field of Honor and the matter would be resolved. ---

The only person with a multi-shot gun is referee. ---

I let myself do a “Register to vote, pie **Mr. Excellent** in the face!” registration drive in college - when dairy gets up your nose, it tends to linger. Not fun. We’re both lawyers, which means we’re both used to pain. I say Bluebooks at ten paces. ---

Wasn’t there some guy who killed and ate someone (only some small chunks, I think) on a Canadian inter-city bus a few years back? I refuse to research this, because I don’t actually want to know. ---

Well, the brief and sanitized version is that someone on a Greyhound used a knife to kill and decapitate his seatmate. I don’t recall that cannibalism was involved, though. ---

A Charles Whitman or Clyde Barrow or John Dillinger would be mowed down by Canadian cops’ bullets, just as they were in the United States. Each presented an immediate danger to the people, but they were not obviously insane. Here in Canada, not criminally responsible by reason of mental insanity (often abbreviated “NCR”) is a valid defense. This instance was so far out of the norm in terms of murders and immediate danger (again, think Whitman, Barrow, and Dillinger) that I’d guess that NCR was raised in the minds of the attending police. Thus, they let Li do his thing carrying the head–really, not much anybody could do at that point, and given that the other passengers were safe and the police had him surrounded, so h.e was no longer a danger to anybody–they took him in when he got tired of posturing. All he was armed with was a knife, and he was surrounded so he wouldn’t get away. Let him bluster, then take him down. And they did. To the best of my knowledge, Li is going to spend the rest of his life in an institution. He will also be studied and research into his state of mind published–which would not be possible if he had been mowed down by US cops’ bullets. You can thank us for studying and advancing the knowledge about the people that your cops are so anxious to kill. 🙂 ---
