There a couple of free ones as well. MapQuest and Waze get lots of good comments.

For paid apps, Garmin, TomTom and Magellan are all there.

Waze is mainly focused on commuting. For my purposes, I need an app which will work for transit and walking as well as driving. Fortunately, Google Maps does all this.
