HELP! Cashier's Check that is Past the Void Period

This needs a bump!

A cashier’s check is issued by the bank, it doesn’t come from any person’s banking account. Typically someone brings cash to the bank or pulls money from an existing account at the bank to issue it, but the cashier’s check isn’t written against the individual account, it’s backed by the bank directly. If the person closes their account, it doesn’t affect the cashier’s check at all. I think that kind of money makes it’s way to the state’s unclaimed property account eventually, but I’m not an expert on that.

I’ve PM’d the OP.

Sorry I haven’t responded yet.

I contacted the bank and found out that they will honor the check. The issue is that I am 2000 miles away.

They ask that my sister, who originally ordered the check, present the check with my signature at the bank and then they will give her a new cashier’s check.

I just to need to mail the check to sister now. When she mails me the new one I will be sure to cash it and deposit it in my bank post haste!

Thanks for the answers everyone.

Yay!

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the update, ILMVI.
