In case you’re actually serious about ridding yourself of that dreaded tune in your head, we had a thread about that a while ago. The solution suggested was to think of a song you LIKE, then run through it to the end. Something about the ending of a familiar song will bring the mental mechanism to an end. I found it works pretty well if you just use the ending of a song you’re very familiar with. I just use “She’s the One” by The Ramones. “She’s the one, she’s the one, she’s the ONE…(decrescendo)” Works like a charm. ---

I have work-related song-stickings. For instance, whenever I copy edit a story about India and Pakistan, naturally, I get “Kashmir” stuck in my head. The bad thing is, I don’t know any of the words to “Kashmir.” For a long time, I wondered why I kept singing “Ziggy Stardust” under my breath while working. Then it hit me. I was reading local copy… …and one of our area towns is called Bowie. ---

Well in keeping with Maximum Overdrives comments, the one Simpsons song which always ends up looping in my head is: “Oh the Garbage man can Marge, The garbage man can!” ~musical interlude~ "Who can take your trash out? Stomp it down for you, shake around the bag and do the twisty thingy too? The Garbage Man! Yes, the garbege man can! The garbage man can and he does it with a smile and never judges you!
