# Help! global trouble uploading things

Recently I’ve been unable to upload on a lot of websites. Gmail doesn’t let me add an attachment (except when I select “use classic uploader” after it fails), and I have been completely unable to upload on job websites (for example, OpenHire). This is a big problem. Can anyone give me some ideas? My firewall seems to be off already. I am really technically incompetent so searching online has not been helpful for this. Thanks a bunch!

This is maybe clutching at straws, but things that go beyond ‘classic uploader’ probably use flash. There might be a problem with the flash plugin of the particular browser you use. I would suggest re-installing the plugin. What browser do you use?

Actually, it’s more likely to be Java. Although updating Flash won’t hurt.
Go into your Add/Remove Programs and delete all of the entries for Java (every time it updates, it adds a new version :rolleyes:) Then go to [Java.com](http://java.com/en/) and install the latest.
