Hey, Handy - I didn’t give her my number because I was still in a state of shock that she gave me hers. I just blanked. As for how old…I am 27. But here’s the thing - I only came out and started dating women around age 23. I’ve always known I was gay but the women I’ve dated, I’ve met through school or work somehow. This is the first time ever that I’ve gotten a phone number from a bar. It’s completely weird to me. First time for everything - this was mine. Also, this is going to sound bad - but I’m not really sure what kind of person people end up picking up at a bar, you know? I’m very cautious about that which is why I’ve never even bothered to get a phone number - I just think “look, don’t touch” most of the time. I’ve never given my number to someone, either. Tibs ---

Yup, I called. She asked me to call her at work the next day because she had company and I did - left a message, she called back. We’re both swamped with work (she’s a physician’s assistant and I’m an attorney) so I gave her my home number and that was it - we’ll figure something out. It sounded encouraging. 🙂 Tibs ---

Ther are no ‘Rules’, unless you are a writer and publisher who wanna make money but can’t come up with a decent book. Two pieces of good advice, from the good old university of life. 1. No-one is out of your league. It’s nice not to have an inflated ego, and to be modest enough not to think you are God’s gift to men or women, but although you can always weigh up the probabilities, no-one is ever out of your league. Remember that. Miracles are rare, but they happen. I speak from experience. Not even my most admiring friend would say I am much of a babe-magnet, and I’m not, yet I’ve enjoyed at least two or three sustained relationships with VERY attractive women, who were in a position to pick and choose any man they wanted. 2. Call her as soon as YOU feel comfortable doing so. Here’s a very instructive quote for anyone wishing to learn more about the female mind set. I was once fixing up a date with a spectacularly confident and attractive woman, and I wasn’t sure if she preferred a Friday or Saturday night, or something a little less ‘significant’ on a week day. So I asked if she would be available Saturday, and she said, ‘If it’s something I want to do, I am always available. If it’s something I don’t want to do, I am never available’. So you just go ahead and call. I doubt she will object that it’s too soon - but if she does, don’t worry. If you had called later, she would have objected that you left it too late!
