I can’t find anyway to do a search. I’ve searched the pages over and don’t see any links to the search page. Help! ---

Hi, Long time SD reader (4 years) first time poster, here. Could someone search for posts replying to the article: [http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mdieselvsgas.html](http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mdieselvsgas.html) I’m interested in the comment: “Let’s start with the basics. Aside from additives such as ethanol, which is made from corn, the gasoline and diesel fuel commonly used today derive from the same source–crude oil. Although they share the same parentage (just like motor oil, some plastics, and Velveeta), they have very different properties.” I’m not sure if the Velveeta comment was a joke or not. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made from crude oil. I’d like to get some verification before I go spreading that info around though. Thanks. ---

Or, for that matter, [on the Web](http://www.kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=product&m=product/product_display&Product=2100061689&U3= ******2100061689*** )? Unless it’s one of the coloring agents, I don’t see anything there which could be derived from petroleum.
