Halloween is coming up, and I plan to be prepared. I want to dress up as a pseudo-Alex from A Clockwork Orange. I haven’t the slightest idea where to start on costuming, so I’ve come to you for help. Any suggestions on where to buy some clothes so that I may have the coolest costume of all time? ---

I put one together a few years ago that looked pretty damn good, I thought. Wish I had a picture. Just go to the Goodwill or Salvation Army. White pants, white button-down shirt. Black low-cut boots (maybe you want to check Payless for those). Then from the sports store a jockstrap and cup. You will probably have to get the bowler, eyepatch and eyelash from a costume shop, but they should not be hard to find. The cane can probably be purchased at the costume shop, if not try a drug store. Oh! What fun. I love Halloween. Be sure to call people you talk with your “drugie” (droogy). ---

X-Ray: Excellent link. It’ll be great for my eyelashes, and it has a ton of up-close shots I never could have gotten. Great eye for detail, too. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a codpiece? I want one that looks like the one in A clockwork Orange, but have yet to find a way to make one that looks authentic. ---

in my college days, when I was way more in shape (yet still more like Dim than Alex), I just used a white shirt, white pants, jockstrap over the pants, black shoes, a plastic bowler hat (hey, I was a college student! _L_), and mascara on the lower eyelashes. No Q about who I was! (Several people complemented me on the outfit, a few others stayed VERY far away _L_)
