Because I think I’ll get tired after 7 or 8 and also the does will get angry. Sorry… preemptive joke to save others the effort. Ok, I recently had a birthday and got a check from my mom for $300. She specifically said to spend it on something fun for me. I’m not rich, but I’m not poor either, and I have everything I need (and a lot of things I don’t need). I have a Mustang that I like to dump money into, and I also like food and kitchen gadgets. My general rule is that if it has a cord or uses batteries I will like it. So if you had $300 to just blow on yourself what would it be? Unfortunately Amazon doesn’t have a “I want to spend $300” button. ---

I might look for a work of art. I’m not a collector, but I do appreciate talented artists - maybe a painting or a small sculpture. I think it would be fun to shop for a perfect piece. ---

How about a telescope? Cloudy nights dot com would be your friend here. Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars are up right now (you won’t see much with Mars though). Summer Milkyway is favorably placed at this time. Be smart buying a used 300 dollar telescope and you can easily get your money back at some point or even make a nice profit. Also, 300 dollars should get you one hooker and a couple of blows…or a couple of blows and one hooker. You local costs of living may vary. ---

Take a local trip. Stay in a bed & breakfast. Can’t go far on $300. Gas is only $2 gal. Maybe 100 miles? Anything worth visiting within that distance? ---

My wife and I sometimes book a suite at a nice hotel. There’s one that has rooms overlooking the Arkansas River. Very nice outside sitting on the balcony. Getting away even for a night definitely spices up our marriage. That’s about $250 with room service. No travel expense because it’s only 10 miles from our house. ---

A drill press… a bench-mounted radial saw… a bench grinder… or a truly high-quality angle grinder. Someday he can and will use each and every one of them for repairs and projects. Quality tools (if not abused) will last almost forever. ---
