With the passing of [Ed Lauter (1938-2013)](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0491590/) as noted in [this post,](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=16764248&postcount=1805) it has dawned on me that building a poll to help determine which of the “That Guy” actors (and actresses, too) are most widely known by their work if not by their names. There must be plenty of IMDb lists like [this one](http://www.imdb.com/list/mmEitMyD3ds/) where their pictures (and names) may be found, but how’s the best way to construct an SDMB poll to address their popularity? We could list the ones we each like best from such lists but then having others here know who we mean would require some pictures or links to pictures for others to recognize. Any ideas how to do that? Any links to places where it’s already been done? ---

The late, lamented, [fametracker.com](http://fametracker.com) had its “fame audit” and “hey it’s that guy” features. I beleive [televisionwithoutpity.com](http://televisionwithoutpity.com) picked up the mantle but I’m blocked at work so I’m not sure. Eta: there’s a book compilation of “hey it’s that guy” written by the fametracker folks - available on Amazon. ---
