When I turn on my television and see a Taco Bell preacher ranting against the evils of McDonalds, I don’t hear any ambiguity in his rants. I don’t see him claiming that Taco Bell is superior _some of the time_, or that _a few people_ prefer chalupas. I see him claiming that Taco Bell food is the one, sole, unique, supreme food. Likewise Hardees says that the Monster Thickburger is the _ultimate_ burger, superior to all other burgers. And every other food cult has its own claim to be the sole possessor of ultimate truth about food. Obviously all of these claims are contradictory, and the only logical explanation is that they’re making it all up. ---

[/Quote] Hmm, I thought the only logical explanation is that the advertisers have been paid to tout their particular artery-clogging agent. Besides that, anyone who wants to can actually try a chalupa or a Monster Thickburger and decide for themselves which is superior, not to mention that Taco Bell apparently won’t excommunicate you for going to Hardee’s. ---

I can see the logic of comparing trust in food to belief in God. Food is mysterious and doesn’t answer our prayers. There are many books on food, together with contradictory beliefs. People tell you that you will suffer unless you embrace food. Food can bring joy. Other people enjoy food too, so there is a spirituality about eating that Breatharians do not understand. There is as much evidence for The Flying Spaghetti Monster as anything else. It’s a bit of a shame that we can label food, describe its effects on the human body, analyse food allergies and diagnose the effects of bad diet. Thios would suggest that food is more interested in us than God. But I’m sure God will catch up soon. ---
