Help me figure what show a friend is trying to remember

There was also the dismal Nearly Departed, the worst thing anyone connected with Monty Python ever did.

The trope “only you can see or hear me” has been a part of TV comedy since Topper.

Dammit. I actually had the right guess for this one, for once! But too late.
Screw it! I’m going for it anyway.

Was it Jennifer Slept Here? It sounds a bit like that…

I definitely remember the show, even some of the gags, but would not have been able to come up with the name.

You obviously never saw Rutland Weekend on BBC in the '70s. Idle was in that, too.

I assume everyone knows that Topper was a series of films back in the '30s? :dubious: Cary Grant and Constance Bennett were the original Kerbys:

And, O God, yessssssssss, Ann Jillian was HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

I’ve seen a few segments of Rutland Weekend, and anything that was the source of the Rutles can’t be all bad. Nearly Departed was all bad.

I remember a comment by one TV critic. Evidently they showed an episode then did a press conference with Idle. The critic said, basically, that everyone wanted to say, “You’re Eric Idle, a comic genius. Why are you doing this piece of crap?”

Whoa. I was just thinking of Jennifer Slept Here a couple of days ago. (Some obscure line… “If I catch it, I’m here. If I don’t–” “We got ants.”)

So the show he remembers with the dead husband or brother or parent turns out to be the one with the dead movie sexpot who only speaks to a 14-year old boy?

And I never thought Ann Jillian was as hot as Barrie Younfellow or even Wendy Schaal.

This Wendy Schaal?

Could be worse. It could be the one where young Susan shows up in the classroom.

I’'ve had enough “I remember this…” and the correct answer turned out to be some variant of my recollection that I can overlook such mis-remembering. We scored another win, anyway.

wasn’t the Johnny Miller show from 6-8 years ago something like that? Lot of strange stuff on it, and i think he got advice from a dead brother. or not.

probably not Eli Stone. His dead father did appear a bit, but maybe as a flashback…

weird show, though.
