Everybody’s nose Everybody’s nose That’s when it blows Everybody’s nose\* I think you’ve got a stellar nose – more a carrot than a potato. Were it mine, I’d be perfectly happy with it, and I’d spend the money on something funner than surgery. Not to go all pop-psychology on you, but is it possible that you’ve got bad nose associations based on your inability to breathe through it? That is, if they fixed your breathing problems, do you think you might be happier with your nose in general? Do, of course, what you want with it, but I can’t offer any useful advice except that it’s fun to imagine Cookie Monster singing a bastardized Leonard Cohen song. Daniel ---

Obviously a diabetic needs insulin… but perhaps some people (not myself, for the record) may feel that, that too, is ‘messing’ with Nature. Isn’t there a religious group that feels this way? Christian Scientists? I personally have no issues with Opal wanting a new nose. It’s her money, her life, etc. I can genuinely understand being unhappy with a physical appearance. I guess that makes me a tool. A nose job isn’t that uncommon to be getting such responses, my 2 cents. That said: I think that JillGat has hit the nail on the head: I think a lot of people are getting a bit tired of what they percieve as Opal’s constant attention seeking. Being completely honest, when I first saw this thread I thought it wasn’t so much a question about a nose but rather a new opportunity to post up pictures. I wasn’t going to post until I saw Miss Bungle’s remark. When the thread started to get ugly, I wanted to weigh in with the fact that ‘cosmetic surgery’ can vastly improve the quality of one’s life. I do genuinely hope Opal finds happiness. ---

It doesn’t help. It is not as insightful as you think it is. There was only one Jimmy Durante, one Barbara Streisand. There are 100,000 actors in Hollywood who are waiting tables or fixing your car – people who will never have a career in film. So unless you are offering OpalCat a lead role in a feature film with residuals, don’t be so flippant. Besides which, don’t you people read the title of her post? It wasn’t _“should I get a new nose?”_, or "_what do you think of my old nose?"_, or _“If you’ve never had a problem with this, then preach to me about it, please”_. No. Read the title again. ---

ZOMBIE ATTACK! I was going through my old subscribed threads looking for book recommendation threads for that new sticky thread in Cafe Society and out of curiosity I flipped way to the early dates to see what was in there. I found this thread and decided to bump it to post the results. So I had that repaired (OMG what a difference) and had them reshape the tip of my nose at the same time. Hmmm, it actually does look a bit better I think. Glad to hear about your renewed confidence, as that is 1000x more important than a less-than-perfect nose. I too have a bulbous, somewhat less-than-ideal schnoz. I also have the worst deviated septum the specialist had ever seen, but, at the same time, because I don’t have any breathing issues, he couldn’t in good faith recommend surgery. I’ve learned to live with it, and as a dude, I don’t think it’s as big a deal. That’s probably a whole bag of worms right there… Anyway, we all gotta be comfortable in our skin. ---

Cute hubby, fantastic dress but I think I prefer your old nose :smack: It had character and fit your face iMHO, but it is ultimately your nose and it makes you happy. ---
