In my Android days I was a fan of the Scosche magnetic mounts with a sticky suction cup. I had one with a flexible arm that let me stick the suction cup to the windshield and have the phone either in landscape or portrait mode with enough room to plug in a cable. I used the same mount across several cars and several phones. These days I have an iPhone and I use a Mag-Safe mount, which eliminates the need to plug in a charging cable.
