I cannot quite tell from the pictures whether they fit nicely between the two screens or if they obscure some part of the right screen. The FICS one seems a less intrusive fit.
The screen (plus extra glass) doesn’t fit completely seemlessly into the dash, and those take advantage of that small gap to mount something in the right place for a phone mount on this car.
It doesn’t appear to meet your requirements, but maybe it will work for someone else. Or maybe for you if you’re more flexible with your needs. It works for me because all other flexible mounts start sagging far too soon.
Adhesive mount to dash with the added bonus of wireless charging without having to mount a metal disk to your phone. It even charges through an Otterbox phone case.
It might work, if i can bend that joint to stick it to the glass. In fact, i ordered that one, and it’s supposed to arrive tomorrow. I also ordered one of the specialty ones for my car, which appears to have a standard ball mount that i can stick the iottie charger on, if the iottie doesn’t attach well on it’s own.
I agree that wireless charging without modifying my phone would be nice.
The iottie attached find to the glass panel, but it holds the phone uncomfortably close to my face, and the angles just don’t work to hold it in the right place.
But the phone holder of the iottie does seem to fit properly into the ball part of the ball joint of the Niro phone holder. I think I’m going to be able to make this work.
So, this works. But the iottie has an extremely annoying feature. It automatically opens to receive your phone. And then it automatically closes. And stays closed until you trigger the “open” button.
I’m not sure how you retrieve your phone if the thing dies. I guess you can probably break the holder. But even assuming it’s working correctly, it only works when the car is on (really, when it’s being powered, but that’s when the car is on.) And it takes it a little while to build up the charge to initially open up. So you can’t get in the car, drop the phone in the holder, buckle your seatbelt, and then start the car. (Which is what I’d like to do.) Instead you need to start the car, then futz around until it will accept the phone. And then, when your hands are free, buckle up.
In the other direction, you need to remove the phone before you turn off the car, instead of just grabbing it as you gather your stuff to head out.
And to add insult to injury, the tiny “open me” buttons are designed for someone with larger hands than i have, so it’s a slightly uncomfortable reach.
But it holds the phone well, and it’s nice that it does wireless charging.
I doubt it’s electrically motorized. The videos I’ve seen make it look like it’s spring-loaded. Which is technically a kind of “motorized”, but not meaningfully so. Also, realistically not the kind of motor that can fail.
I’ve broken all the seals and used all the parts. I clamped down the screw on the ball joint enough that i might have to scratch it to remove it. I don’t generally return things that aren’t in “new” condition if they work fine but i decide in not wild about them.
Let’s see how well it works in practice. Maybe I’ll get used to it. If not, there are a lot of mounts that use the same ball joint. That’s really good to know.
