Several months ago there was a thread that asked how far you could go on public or commercial rail or transit or something. I don’t remember exactly what the criteria were, which is making it very difficult to search for. I seem to remember somebody saying they could get from Boston to Washington in about 22 hours. I believe it was in General Questions, but I can’t be sure.

I did find [this thread from Nov 2002](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=144226) which mentions the thread I’m looking for. Specifically, **dtilque** says he can’t find it. **panamajack** adds this, but it’s not enough for me to find it:

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe that is it. It looks like I misremembered the answer. Thank you very much. 🙂

Quite a while back, someone did an article on traveling from Tijuana to Vancouver on transit. The route was arduous and inconvenient, involving, IIRC, a few dead spots where they had to do a fair bit of walking.

I vaguely remember this being published in AAA’s “Via” magazine around five years ago.
