A while back, maybe as long as a year ago, someone posted a link that led, either directly or indirectly, to an anecdote about a wedding cake. The bride had shown the baker a photo of a multi-layered cake with a lot of crosshatching and three or four autumn colors in the frosting. Complex, yeah, but she was willing to pay whatever it cost.

But what she got instead was a **lopsided** single layer cake, with five or six different colors of **gel** frosting running crookedly around the side. Completely unacceptable; I could have done better when I was eight years old.

Now, I **think** this was part of the site that has the tacky wedding/bridesmaid/prom gowns (you know, the source of the infamous Pregnant Prom Gown). Does anyone have a link to that site? Or another site that might have the Worst Cake Ever on it? Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

I can’t understand why she served that cake, though. I mean, wouldn’t just a large generic sheet cake with flowers and the couple’s name been better than **that** monstrosity? She could have had Kroger’s whip one up in thirty minutes, I’d think;

I’m a dumbass. I sat there looking at the picture, trying to muster up some amount of distaste, but I couldn’t do it. I thought to myself, “Why, that’s a pretty cool cake. I really kinda like it. Do I have horrible taste? :eek:”

I finally thought to scroll down.

Probably, as with the [Titanic Wedding Disaster](http://www.etiquettehell.com/), (scroll down; it won’t let me do a direct link) the baker didn’t have the cake ready until the morning of the wedding, and then a time crunch prevented even a rush to a supermarket for a sheet cake.

And **TMINC** , I think the same thing happened to me the first time I saw the link!

Am I the only one who finds the original cake ugly as well? A PLAID wedding cake? Unless you’re Scottish and having a tartan themed cake, I can’t see the point.

Of course, it is well done, I just think it’s ugly. The second cake…yuck. (Although as long as it tasted okay…)

Bride probably thought it was unique and original. It would probably have been a conversation piece: “How did they **do** that?!” And, if done properly, could have generated a lot more business for the baker.

The “transformer accident”\* cake **might** have been edible, but I wonder if there would have been enough for everyone at the reception. For that matter, I wonder if it could even have been sliced without falling apart.

\*I once made a bundt cake that fell apart coming out of the pan. BIL took one look and said, “Oh, you had a transformer accident!” Yes, we’re geeks.
