Except for not being a graphic novel this sounds like Power Factor, the first issue of which my brother and I got in a Comix grab bag thirty years ago. I’m pretty sure there was a graphic novel of it (maybe it was just a collection?), but this is 100% certainly what I’m looking for. Thank you so much for helping me find this (and to the other Dopers who looked as well). I’ve been trying to figure out the title for ~20 years. It’s really appreciated. ---

Wow. That is seriously obscure, and I take my hat off to **Exeter5** for finding it. One issue published by a very short-lived publishing house, followed by a second issue from a different publisher that then folded too.
