# Help me ID this book (Desert survival, slingshot)

I’m trying to help a friend identify a book he read when he was a kid. He said he remembers a guy getting left in the desert by some guys in a jeep. He made a slingshot to survive with and he was trying to get to the jeep for some reason.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I don’t recognize the story, but the place to go to find a remembered children’s book is [Loganberry Books](http://loganberrybooks.com/solved.html). Searches on “slingshot” and “jeep” didn’t turn up any likely possibilities, but maybe you or your friend could try some other keywords, or read through the solved mysteries. For $2.00 you can even submit your own mystery to see if anyone can solve it.

**Deathwatch** by Robb White. Made into a made-for-TV movie directed by Spielberg, but I cannot remember the movie’s title **Savages** , possibly, but I don’t feel like looking it up.

I knew I could count on you guys. This guy seemed to have spontaneously remembered the book and I could almost see the sweat beading on his forehead as he panicked while trying to recall the details of it.
