I bought a box of plastic toys at a flea market last week, and among them was [this pink rubber toy truck](http://users.ntplx.net/~davesas/truck/truck.html). It appears to be from the 1950’s, it’s a little over five inches long, and it has yellow tires with spokes molded in.

The link will bring you to a bunch of photos I took of the truck along with a description.

I can’t seem to find it in any of the toy collector’s guides that I have or that I can thumb through at the local Barnes & Noble. Anyone know anything about it?

I can’t see the pictures. It looks like the links point to your g:\Auction Pix folder instead of a web address.

It should work now; I just tested and sure enough, I bollixed up the code.

“Ohio” could mean Ohio Arts?

More on Auburn Rubber Company toy trucks:

From: [link](http://www.davidbradley.net/DB_Articles.htm)

> [@](#):
>
> Toy collectors know these items well, as they were made by the ‘Auburn Rubber Company’. Auburn had made toys since the early part of this century, and was particularly well known for their line of toy soldiers. Auburn’s toys were unique in that they are made of hard pressed rubber. Apparently even in the 1920’s and 30’s there were concerns about the potential toxicity of lead, which was commonly used in toys of that type.
>
> Over the years, Auburn made thousands of different toys out of rubber, including farm animals, cars, motorcycles, and tractors. Apparently Auburn sold quite a few of their toys through Sears.

I was born in 1959, and had toys very similar to this truck when I was a small child. I remmember a red Buick sedan, and there were a couple of others. This truck may well have been one of the treasures in that “Big Box of Cars” my mom finally gave away when my brother (born in 1965) finally stopped playing with toys. Of course, the vehicles all had plenty of wear and tear, but I’d like to think that somewhere there’s a little (or not-so-little) kid still getting a kick out of the metal DeSoto convertible with the huge tail fins, the plastic Goggomobil, and the rest of the fleet…

Hey! I’ve got some of their toys! I’ve got a dump truck which is in two pieces (it came that way), and has a longer bed than the one you’ve got pictured, a 50s Ranchero, a motorcycle cop, and some kind of sports car that looks like it might be a Volvo. The cab on the dump truck is nearly identical to the one you’ve got (the driver and passenger are identical).

Looks like the same one. Thanks, **Sharky**. I didn’t know about the Atlanta Antique Gallery site before, but I’m going to add it to my reference bookmarks now.
