Daniel.
Oh, I will BEAT your pregnant ass. Really, it’s a great name. It has some very worthy forebears, it’s not up there in the top five, and everybody will know it’s male.
Why does being Jewish prevent you from using the name Christopher?
I am trying to think of evil Christophers in the Old Testament, but, seeing as how I have never read it, I am coming up short.

yams!!
Must have something to do with the suffix “opher.”
For what it’s worth, Sidney/Sydney is vastly more popular as a girl’s name recently. Sydney was #37 for girls born in the US in 2007; it hasn’t been in the top 1000 for boys since 1996. The spelling Sidney ranked #838 for boys, #458 for girls in 2007.
Hey, why didn’t my edit work!
Yeah, I realized right when I posted that the first six letters of “Christopher” can be arranged to spell “Jesus.” But is it common for Jewish people not to name their kids Christopher or Christina?
And sorry for the hijack.
For boy’s names, I like Nathaniel.
For girl’s names, I like Fallopia.

yams!!
I don’t know any demographics or anything, but my guess is that it’s very rare. I’m pretty sure I never met a Jewish Chris or Christine.
Yeah, that’s kind of the point. I like Sidney for a boy and it’s not overused.
It would be a great name until Anatomy class.
Boy: John or Christopher
Girl: Emily or Jennifer
The Hulk.
Ahh, forgive me for misunderstanding. Sydney is my great grandfather’s name, my great uncle’s name and my father’s middle name so I personally have a lot of trouble thinking of it as a girl’s name but I wouldn’t use it for a boy now because it’s become more associated with girls.
I think you’ll need a two, three or four syllable name. We don’t know your first initial, which makes it harder.
I like very traditional, often Biblical names:
Jonathan
Christopher
Benjamin
Jacob
Oscar
Rory
Ryan
David
Michael
Paul
Peter
Phillip
William
Oliver
Richard
Jasper
Conrad
James
Simon
Samuel
Alan
Patrick
Alexander
Graham
Ian
Daniel
Are you forgetting John SIDNEY McCain? (I just got a laugh out of this, coming from you! )
And yes, yams!!, it is very unusual for Jewish people to give their kids “Christ” names. Though it’s quite common to use the names of guys who hung out with Jesus, like Mark or Matthew or Paul.
*Hoping that those are names of guys that actually knew Jesus. I’m a total ignoramus about this stuff.
I like these names…
Vincent
Theophilus / Theo
Henry
Nigel
Malcolm
Isaac
Seriously, please do not give your child a name that could ever be confused as to gender. I think that should be one of the Three Laws of Child-Naming.
Paul didn’t.
Boys
Nathan
Benjamin
William
Girls
Emily
Amanda
Abby (for some reason, I prefer this over Abigail)
I thought the guys who hung with Jesus were named Dismas and Gestas.
:d&r:
Please, please, please, no more Jennifers! This world has enough Jennifers! I cannot understand people’s love affair with that name.
For a boy, how about something classical like Amadeus or Cornelius?
Unlike others, I like unisex names. So I offer…
Evan
Brett
Lane
Reed
Gage
… just to name some off the top of my head.
Best wishes to both of you!
