Help me think of some interesting paper-topics, PLEASE!!

Geography: Environmeltalists, Rachel Carson, conservation, preservation, ethics, ecofeminism, deep ecology, environmental justice.

American History: American explorers, Lewis & Clark, De Soto, Champlain, Mackenzie and La Salle.

GMRyujin stole my Gettysburg idea!

But yeah, you could do something along those lines, for that battle or another one.

You can write a history paper wherein you examine the personalities of the generals, throw in some background on the war, discuss the efficacy of tactics & strategies used, etc.

Then write a geography paper about how the geography of the field affected the battle. Or, you could do the history paper about another battle during the same conflict, just to mix things up a bit. I’d be careful about combining topics; ask your prof. if that’s allright.

For the geography paper, find a list of the states with a listing of some feature of each state - something like the percentages of religions or ethnic ancestry or age levels. Each state will have different statistics. Write a paper explaining the factors that led to these differences.

I really appreciate all the replies to my thread. I kind of expected to get a lot of “We arent going to do your homework for you.” types of responses. haha

Anyway, I think that I am going to try to take the advice to write the two papers about the same subject, but for the geography paper, I’ll write about it from a geographical perspective.

Thanks for the help, everyone!!

If you’re going to write these papers about the same subjuect, may I suggest using colonial diaries/letters as your primary sources? I wrote a ton of papers based on the journals of very early settlers in the (what is now) NYC area. They dealt with the “Indian problem” as well as describing the land. Could get you some interesting view-points.

However, if I had the same person in two of my classes, and they turned in papers based on the same sources, I would not be all that inclined to give them a good grade. I’m not a teacher/prof or anything, I just think it’s something to keep in mind.
