You could mount it from the ceiling of the garage using angle brackets. My buddy did just that over the spot where his wife parks her car. Since it is above the spot where she parks, it provides a lot of extra close accessable storage for items they usually need. Their boys play sports and they just keep bins which have the various items they need up there. They pull the labeled bins down and stick them in the car and drive away. ---

BINGO! - if you want a nice, flat, stable benchtop, glue/nail/whatever, a sheet of 1/2" plywood on the top of a door. Exterior doors are a bit overkill - a decent (NOT HD) hollow-core will also work. ---

My grandfather built a series of great shelves in the laundry room with doors and 4x4’s. This was in the 60’s when they built the house, and they are still in great shape. Alternately, you could present it to your sweetie with a note that says “I a-door you”… ---
