Help me understand "Black Friday"

I left Frank’s in January, 1978, and there are no Frank’s outlets in Cleveland (where I have lived since 1980), so I was unaware of any financial hardships in the company. I knew that they tried a serious expansion in the late 1970s and early 1980s, buying out smaller outfits throughout the country, so they may have gotten in trouble through overextension. However, they had been in business successfully for over thirty years (staying in metro Detroit) and the practices they followed at that time were successful for their operation as it existed.

Wikipedia notes that Frank’s overextended, got bought out by some other outfit overextending, and finally collapsed, completely. Not living near Detroit, any more, and having no Frank’s on my route to and from Michigan relatives, I was unaware that one more of my former employers had gone into oblivion. (I wonder if I could get a job at Exxon?)

Darn tootin’. I ran my home network at 802.11b speed for two years and have been perfectly happy that way…but when CompUSA advertised 802.11g routers and adapters for $1.99 each, I jumped at it.
