Texas songwriter Vince Bell recorded “[Frankenstein](http://www.vincebell.com/phoenix.htm).” Gary Burgess wrote the song, but Vince recorded it because, after spending about 10 years recovering from a collision with a drunk driver, he “felt” the lyrics. (His own tunes are pretty fine.) “Reynardine” may, or may not, depict a vampire and/or shapeshifter. "Green Fields of America did a lovely version on their [live album](http://www.amazon.com/Green-Fields-America-Live-Concert/dp/B000005CNS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1201879817&sr=8-1). Richard Thompson recorded “Now That I Am Dead” about the phenomenon of the artist who is only appreciated post-mortem. When I saw him live, he sang the tune with a very funny “monster mash” voice. (Check out Youtube.) ---

Witches count? Cool. [Alison Gross, by Steeleye Span](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw7cVK8Ve9k). The video is sadly cheesey. Also by Steeleye Span (but I couldn’t find a video): _Seven Hundred Elves_. Closer to Tolkien’s elves than to Norman Rockwell’s, and on the friendliness scale, closer to Jurgen von Strangle than to Cosmo and Wanda.
