If **I** was designing this I’d be awfully tempted to make sure the distance was essentially random once you get close enough to the right timing, with longer scores less likely, so the longer you play, the more likely you are to get closer to, say, 600, but that you never actually get it. People would be hooked forever MWAHAHA! ---

The maximum distance on the first version is 323.5. There are a whole bunch of newer versions now, all that go farther and farther. **Opalcat** was chronicling them in her LiveJournal yesterday.
