You should name it what my parents almost named me Boy: Aniket, Siddhartha Girl: Anuradha or Uma or Shibani What, your baby isn’t Indian? Don’t sweat it. ---

Oonagh/Unagh/Una is pretty common Irish girl’s name. I do personally agree that Irish girl’s names are a bit on the guttural side, and the nicer ones have obnoxious spellings. I much prefer Irish boy names, but most of the good ones are now very common (Ryan, Aidan, Ciaran, Cillian). I can make a pretty good guess at the age of my patients in my current GP practice in Belfast, which is in a Nationalist (Catholic) stronghold. Attracta, Perpetua, Carmel, Cornelius, John-Paul, Geraldine, Benedict, Eugene, Fidelma- all over 40. Saoirse, Caomhin, Aoibheann, Aednat, Roise, Rionach, Muireann, Ultana, Coinneach, Deaghlan, Aengus- under 15 Ryan, Ronan, Bridget, Mary, Kathleen, Patrick, Declan, Dermot, Liam, Brian, Ciara- any age. ---

I’ve always loved the name Kerry for a boy. Not so uncommon when I was growing up; probably not so common now. Also good for a girl, but probably more common. ---
