# Help! Need date movie for tonight!

I’ve been put in charge of picking out the movie. Unfortunately, I live under a rock and have absolutely no idea what to choose!
Some details- this is a 4th date, he’s pretty artsy/intellectual, we are in a city so we should probably be able to find whatever playing somewhere.
Any ideas? Anyone?

OK, this is the best movie I’ve seen lately that still MAY be playing…
Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
I am not kidding. It’s got sentiment, philosophy, special effects, interesting characters & a riveting story. Make sure you stay at least ten minutes into the final credits.

Yeah, Apes is good. My wife doesn’t usually go for that kind of movie and she loved it.
If Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” is playing anywhere near you, that’s a good choice. It’s pure comedic fluff, and very enjoyable. Will make for a fun night.
Can you post a list of movies actually playing near you to help us narrow it down? Is a dvd at home an option?

I’m not sure where I would rent a DVD, but Netflix streaming would be possible.
I’m in DC and will have wheels, so I’m pretty sure most movies should be available. It looks like Midnight in Paris is indeed an option.

Intellectual/Artsy (a bit creepy)? See if [**The Skin I Live In**](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EolQSTTTpI4) is playing near you. It’s a limited release, so it’s a crap shoot.

Bottle Shock is a fun movie and I know is currently on Netflix. It’s light hearted and fun, very loosely “based on” the story of the Judgement of Paris where American wines beat French wines for the first time. This is especially fun if you are drinking / eating during the movie.
Another movie that’s always been a hit is an older one - Chocolat. Most people I know who have seen this are surprised at how much they like it. I’m not sure if it’s on live streaming or not though.

Being close to Halloween you could go with a theme - 80’s style zombie flicks are fun and is good for date conversation because you both have probably seen them before and can reminisce a little about what you two were like as teenagers when you first saw them.
I also hear “Human Centipede” is a light and feel good horror flick 😃

Sounds like she’s looking for something to see in the theater, so Bottle Shock is presumably out.
Besides which, it’s a horrible movie for the 3/4 of the movie during which Alan Rickman isn’t on the screen. (Actually, the bar bet at the beginning is a decent scene. But that’s it.)

A light-hearted, charming movie, with lots of references to Expat Paris of the 1920’s (with great cameos - but the Hemingway guy steals every scene he is in) to the Belle Epoque Paris of the late 1800’s. Ergo = much artsy/intellectual fodder, on top of which it’s a Woody Allen movie, which can lead to a discussing of his artisiness, intellectualness, and weird relationship-ness, too…
