I agree that the media hype and the star power brought to the issue by this stupid dustup involving Ashton Kutcher has created a mountain out of a relative molehill. In terms of aggregate human suffering, labor trafficking is a much bigger problem, which is then dwarfed by disease, which is then dwarfed by malnutrition, which is in turn dwarfed by poverty in general. That having been said, the Dallas Police Department started a groundbreaking unit with exactly four full time resources. Three cops an one social worker. Four payroll entries and they set up a department which did a ton of good on this problem, and became THE role model unit for this type of policework for the entire US, over the past four years or so. So, we can do both. We can take the almost insignificant manpower it takes to create smart anti child-trafficking departments in major cities, AND set up programs to help end forced labor trafficking. I agree the media hype has been misplaced, but society, which the media caters to, was never advertised as an efficient way to address the problem of human suffering, starting with the areas which afflict the most people. Or Hey, how about one that applies to a million troubles and crimes, and isn’t specific to just sex trafficking. “Where is your Child right Now? Parents, please take responsibility.” Most of the parents of these “trafficked” children have divorced themselves from their parental responsibilities… ---

(a) Profile people that do these sorts of things and arrest them just for looking like predators, (b) these morons that actually want to pay for sex do know that prostitution is legal in Nevada, right? (b)…who the F\*\*K does this!!! I know that this is a serious problem, it’s just that you’d think that there’s a simple solution, like removal of the genitals. Hey there you go, put that on a bilboard with a cop castrating the criminal on the spot, it may have an affect. ---
