We danced to [_Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman_ by **Bryan Adams**](http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/bryan-adams/25438.html). It was a surprise - I told the DJ to play something nice and not country (I wasn’t big on making all the little decisions). I thought it was a good pick. ---

This is a great thread. I’m recently engaged and I know our wedding song is going to be difficult to decide on as well. My fiance is a recording arts major and has very strict opinions on music, so it’s mostly going to be up to him. But I have no idea what we’ll pick in the end. I first thought that \*\*The Blower’s Daughter \*\* by Damien Rice would make a great wedding song. It’s slow sweet, _very_ emotional, and beautiful. But after listening to it a few times I heard this really quiet line at the end of the song that ruins it for a wedding song “til I find someone new” If you could have the DJ cut out that one line it would be great. But I didn’t like the idea of doing that as that one line reveals the standpoint from which the entire song was written and that ruins it for me. We joked about doing something crazy that would just confuse our relatives… You mentioned They Might Be Giants… \*\*Birdhouse in Your Soul \*\* or **Snail Shell** were the two we thought would be fun 😃 ---

If I was planning on dancing at my wedding, which I don’t, I’d pick The Rest of Mine by Trace Adkins. It’s slow enough for dancing and Trace’s deep voice is very lovely - especially in such a sweet song. This song always makes me cry. There’s no guarantee that we’ll see tomorrow Heaven only knows how long we have So there’s no way I’ll ever for one second let you wonder Just how long my love for you will last [MATERIAL DELETED BY MODERATOR] etc, etc ---

**Saint Germain** and **congodwarf** you’ve both been around long enough to know that you may NOT post the entire lyrics of a song. A line or two, and then provide a website that has copyright permission. The old standard The Way You Look Tonight. Tony Bennet does a nice slow dance version. Or if you want non traditional, I Wanna Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler from The Wedding Singer. ---

We played Barry White at our wedding. Went down a treat. Wasn’t exactly a big white wedding though. A Thousand Beautiful Things by Annie Lennox is rather lovely. Tone Poem by Fischerspooner - amazing for a band that doesn’t take themselves seriously, this is really gorgeous. Ugh, I just scrolled through a fairly significant chunk of my music collection and I don’t have a whole lot of unalloyed love songs. I’m sure you’ll pick something perfect though. Go with your instincts, it sounds like you have a really good set of criteria. ---

I’d think of using the Georgia Satellites’ “Keep Your hands to Yourself” but it’s a controversial choice. How about either Alison Krauss’ or Keith Whitley’s versions of “When You Say Nothing At All” ? Both are very lovely and loving, but I like Alison’s better, her voice just gives me chills. ---

I’m planning on dancing to “Kissing You” by Des’Ree. It’s not _the_ most danceable song ever made, but it’s sweet and emotional, and I don’t think that it’s overdone at weddings. ---
