On November 28th I board the Carnival Liberty for seven days of drinking and… stuff. Mostly drinking. And maybe a little reading on the deck.

I’ll read just about anything - fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, biographies, you name it. I’d prefer something not too dense, however (so a tome of Antonin Scalia’s ruminations on Supreme Court proceedings would be _out_). I do loves me some horror, comedy, and sci-fi/fantasy.

So far I’m planning on tackling:

_A Confederacy of Dunces_ by John Kennedy Toole (I’ve never read it! An article on [cracked.com](http://cracked.com) said it’s the funniest book ever written, so…)

_John Dies at the End_ by David Wong

Any other recommendations?

Since you’re not leaving until the 28th and since you like horror, why not pick up Stephen King’s new book, _Under the Dome_? It’ll be out on 11/15, and Wal-Mart and Target (and Amazon) are selling it for $9. It’s about 1100 pages so it might last through the whole cruise.

It’d probably also be a conversation starter, if that’s something you’d like on a vacation. Just about everyone has read King and will have an opinion.
