This is a book my wife listened to on a talking book for the blind when she was around nine or ten (1962-1963). She doesn’t remember the plot of the book, or any of the characters’ names. She does remember that a character (probably the protagonist) had a dog, and watched a dog food commercial. Because the reader departed from the omniscient narrator voice he had been using, and adopted a stentorian tone, she DOES recall the text of the commercial jingle: _Woofee’s dog food is the best! Contains more meat than all the rest! So buy your Woofee food today, And watch your dog chase his blues away! Woof! Woof! Woofee’s!_ I place our hopes in the able hands of the Teeming Millions. ---
