Stating it like that is a personal attack. The way you phrase things matters here, too. You can only leverage personal insults in the BBQ pit subforum. For example: You could say, “Nameofperson, you’re wrong for the following reasons 1-blahblah 2-bluhbluh” (preferably with sources when you post in this subforum) You could not say, “Nameofperson, you’re ignorant.” You definitely could not say, “Nameofperson, you’re ignorant, should never post here again, and I believe you’d do better to sever your fingers than make us read another word typed by you.” Even though it may be true that Nameofperson is really undereducated, or even flat-out stupid, you can only point those things out in the Pit subforum. Not GQ. So go to the Pit and create a thread if you are so inclined. Otherwise, stick to the facts. ## Similarly, there is a rule in GD (great debates) where you are not allowed to call someone a liar or state that they’re telling a lie, because accusations of lying imply intent. However, it would be appropriate to point out, in GD, that someone got something factually wrong, and enumerate the reasons why. There is a similar distinction at work here. It’s subtle yet extant. In other words, lurk more. ---

I know that cannabis has been used recreationally and medicinally for thousands of years. Not really, Chinese railroad workers also brought the use of hemp to the US, not just opium smoking. It was already in use in the eastern and southern US states - gain brought by immigrants who were already using it in various forms back in the old country. Sort of like sex, every generation thinks they invented it =) I was talking to my very deep southern roomie, she smoked pot, her mother smoked pot, her grandfather grew it and smoked it. She is so caucasian she practically glows in the dark. Pot is one of those horrid deep dark and well known secrets. Pot, cocaine, hash … all commonly used by people everywhere. ---

As cannabis is native to, and has been used in, Central and South Asia I doubt that it came to USA by way of Mexico. BTW, talking about origins (if anyone is interested), the word _assassin_ is derived from hashish. Another thing: hemp, being a close relative to hops, can also be used in beer making. ---
