**Blowero** , I’d never heard the term before and it didn’t strike me instantly as anti-gay. However, I’m certainly glad that I know _now_ that it has the connotation because I’d feel like an ass if I used it unknowingly and offended someone. I don’t doubt that other people feel the same way - but I think you’re getting heat because you didn’t say something like, “Uh, hey, guys…you know, that can be highly offensive…you might want to eliminate that term from your vocabulary…check out these web sites…” That’d be enough to keep me from using it. But to insult people for not even knowing about the connotation…well, it’s going to make people defensive. I know damn well I haven’t been living in a cave and I hadn’t heard the term. Many people, apparently, haven’t. So cut us some slack - we’re not being _knowingly_ ignorant just to get your goat. Tibs. ---

Dear Mr. **blowero** , In this language we call “English”, there actually can be many different meanings for the same spelling and pronunciation of a word. You’ll notice this in a certain big book we like to call a “dictionary” when they use a numbering system to differentiate between what is called “definitions”. You have intimated you are a homosexual male. Let’s take that as an example, shall we? I sometimes hear a word that has been used several times here in this very thread. You can see it if you look very carefully. That word is “gay”. A simple “dictionary” (remember that word we just learned?) has as many as FOUR “definitions” of that word. And guess what? The definition of “gay” that is explained with the word “homosexual”, is the fourth one! Now, not everyone reads the dictionary, and as pointed out earlier, “turd burglar” is, sadly, not listed in the dictionary, even if you read the whole thing. Now, knowing that there is more than one definition of the word “turd burglar”, and none of them are meant to reflect positively on the person called this word, can you get that bug out of your ass? Getting back to the OP, would a better tactic at Tora Bora have been to send in U.S. Fecal Rangers and practice extreme turd-burgling, or would that qualify as biological warfare? OTOH, it may have had no effect on Al Qaeda, since they all live in caves and would have had no concept of the potential dangers of turd-burgling. ---
