I was watching the end of golf and the caddies would usually tell the gallery to put down their cameras and phones before the player took his shot. Is that new? I don’t recall hearing that at other tournaments. (It didn’t seem to do any good as everyone was still using their cameras and phones.) ---

I’m betting it’s because an Olympic audience is probably not necessarily an experienced golfing audience. They might need the etiquette of picture-taking during play explained to them. Although, to be quite frank, some fans (and pro photographers) at regular golf tournaments also can’t seem to follow the rules. ---

FWIW I would not be at all bothered if the golf the picture-taking “etiquette” were to die off in the face of an always-on-camera culture based on cellphones and mirrorless cameras that can be set to _not_ make that pointless fake shutter sound. Meanwhile, was not around yesterday to post about Monica Puig’s gold, but as a mundane sidebar at least it satisfied my curiosity as to how would the arrangement of _Borinqueña_ sound; good thing it’s pretty short as anthems go to begin with, it was a fast but tolerable arrangement though the last bar sounded particularly rushed. ---
