No doubt that Tyson’s a few cards short of a full deck – earlier in the week, CNN showed footage of the interview mentioned in the OP. ISTR that he said he liked being in prison; perhaps he’ll find a way to go back. ---

They do actually have quite the high school / career center inside, where the average age of the students is 35. They do some cool things, with auto shops and landscaping programs and such. The agency I work for runs some cooperative programs with the Youth Center. My coworker and I had to go to the high school once, and were in a couple of classrooms with some of the inmates (with prison staff, never alone.) Since it’s a medium-security place, we weren’t feeling too bad, until she turned to me and said … “You know, this is where Mike Tyson served his time.” ---

I recall one psychiatrist describing Tyson as “socially inept.” That’s like saying Mother Teresa was a nun. True, but incomplete. It’s more accurate to say that Tyson is a socially and mentally retarded psychopath, and paranoia is his co-pilot. He really believes what he says, and his actions prove that. You don’t have to be a mental health expert to see that. Just listen to the man. Whatever the outcome of the fight, this man is headed for prison or a mental institution. He’s a walking time bomb. And he will go off. Make no mistake about that. ---

The whole Tyson thing really pisses me off, because I actually really like boxing. He is a discredit to the human race, let alone a sport. Frankly, I think it’s appalling that in order to keep a title, another fighter, be it Hollyfield, or Lewis or whomever, are mandated to fight this guy - he’s a _freekin’_ criminal, not to mention completely off his rocker. There should be a minimum standard of behaviour required - I think not biting your oponents should be precluded from the acceptable list. Every fight that he participates in and gets paid for is a disservice to all the young men and women in the world that are currently training to become boxers, either for the Olympics, or professionally. Imagine if he was in track and field - someone would wind up with a javelin through the head! BAH!
