# Here's one coin that I will not be adding to my collection

The US Mint does make flat metal discs that it doesn’t call coins. They are called medals and have an entry in that glossary:

But yes, everything issued by the US mint with a face value on it can be spent at that face value.

Look at that Superman one, for example. At one ounce it is the same size as a classic silver dollar. But since it does not have a face value, it is not called a coin.

First, _oh thank God_ for that link, @Dewey_Finn. Thank you for providing some element of sanity back into things.
Second, I _ **guarantee** _ that if his Royal Flatulence gets ~~the Mint~~ **anyone** to make ‘Trump Commemorative Coins’ or ‘Commemorative Medals’ they will be snatched up by him to “award” to his followers. They had a dress rehearsal for this with that _Melania_ movie.
